Dubai August 4-5, 2013

"Transit and stay over in Dubai" Yay!  That was what our family thought.  We visit our family and friends in Thailand every year.  This was the first time we flew with Emirates and we had to transit in Dubai.  Therefore we had a good reason to stay there for 1 night and 2 days!

We left DFW on August 3th and arrived Dubai August 4th at noon.  It was a long flight but we were excited to explore Dubai!  We left some of our luggage at the airport and only took what we needed.
We took a taxi (about 30 minutes) to our hotel.  On the way to the hotel, we enjoyed their buildings and city.  Their architectures are really interesting.  Finally we were here, our hotel, Atlantis, the Palm!

After we checked in and put all stuff in the room, we were heading to the "Lost Chambers Aquarium".  It was huge!  We enjoyed every bit of it.

Now, Sean and Luke were ready for the "Adventure water park".  We spent the rest of the afternoon here until the park closed.  Sean loved 'The leap of Faith", the 9 stories tall water slide.  The rest of us were not brave enough to do it.

Luke loved playing in "River Rides".  While P'Fung was relaxing on a beach chair, Sean, Luke and I were having fun with water rides including the "Shark Attack" where the tubes spun around and we came down to the area surrounded by shark tank.

After the long flight from DFW and all the fun we had on the first day, we were tired and slept well!

Monday August 5, 2013 - Hotel, Burj Khalifa and Monorail to the Palm
We started our day with big breakfast in the hotel (buffet with all kinds of foods).  Then the kids played in the swimming pool with dad while I was walking down to the beach area next to the swimming pool.  Sean and Luke had so much fun!

Around noon, we headed to "Dubai Mall" by the hotel shuttle bus and went to "At the Top Burj Khalifa", the tallest building in the world!  To me, it was pretty cool but I was nervous at the same time.  We also shopped for some souvenirs in the mall.

Here are some pictures that we took while we were up there!

We were back to the hotel around 6 pm, had dinner and travelled into the palm by monorail.  How excited!! These buildings and houses were so beautiful.

Before we left the hotel to the airport, Sean and Luke still wanted to swim.  Therefore we let them have fun until 10 pm. We stayed in the hotel until almost midnight.  We arrived the airport and waited for 3 am flight to Thailand.

It was a great family (short) trip.  We loved everything we did here!

Your experiences of the Atlantis Palm & Lost Chambers Aquarium Dubai have certainly nudged me to apply for a visa for Dubai so that I can visit these wonderful places with my wife and kids. Although the lost chambers will be in my travel itinerary, I will also be adding other popular attractions to my bucket list like the Burj Khalifa, Dubai Fountain, Dubai Souks & The Frame. I heard that these places are quite popular so I wouldn’t want to miss them.
