Nola - Bahamas Dec 19-24, 2015

This was the first LONG road trip with the boys!  Yes we were driving from Dallas/Fort Worth Texas to Cape Canaveral/Orlando Florida. It would be at about 20 hours on the road one way but we were excited as this was the first trip and last trip of the year.

Dec 19
We planned to leave the house 6 am and hoped to arrive NOLA (New Orleans, Louisiana) mid afternoon.  Unfortunately, my husband was sick.  He went to see a doctor (urgent care) and was diagnosed with Strep.  Fortunately, he got medication and the doctor said he should be ok to travel.  Therefore we left the house 10 am.
I didn't plan to drive but because of his sickness, I had to drive and yes I drove all the way to NOLA for 9 and a half hour.  We arrived there 7:30 pm and checked in our hotel.  We had dinner at the hotel.  After that we walked from the hotel to explore the city.  We walked pass Bourbon street.  It was too wild for the boys.  We went on and stopped to see 2 street performances, walked around and came back to the hotel.

Dec 20
We spent morning around the Jackson Square area.  And of course we wouldn't miss the famous beignets at Café Du Monde.  It was so crowded.  Although the service was not that great, we enjoyed the breakfast in NOLA.  Once we were done, we went for a walk to the MS river, took some pictures and went back to the hotel for checking out.  Our scheduled was shorten because of the sickness but we had a good short visit in NOLA.  I actually love the architectures/buildings.  Luke even motioned that he didn't feel like he was in US :)

It was time to hit the road again!  I drove another 11-12 hours to Cape Canaveral.  We stopped for dinner at Jacksonville (Thai foods!).  We then arrived Cape Canaveral around 10 pm.

We were ready for the cruise to Bahamas!  We reserved the shuttle bus to the cruise port at 10:30 am.  We parked our car at the hotel.  We got in the port, registered for the cruise and entered the cruise right before lunch time.  The first stop was to book excursions.  We were at the 5th floor of the cruise deciding what we wanted to do.  All agreed we would do a city tour in Nassau and 2-3 things in Cocacay, Bahamas.  Couldn't wait!

We had lunch and went to the staterooms.  Our rooms were connected to each other with ocean view.  My husband and I had a king size bed while there were 2 twin bed for the boys.  After mandatory evacuation exercise, the first things the boys wanted to do was to swim!  So we went up to 9th floor and let them play and swim.  The boy had fun!  My husband and I just lied on the beach chairs watching them and relaxed.

Our dinner time was 5:30 pm in My Fair Lady room on the 4th floor.  Our servers were really nice.  We liked them a lot.  We actually had a good family time here talking and laughing.  After dinner, we watched the welcome show.  It was so great and funny!

Only thing I didn't like about today was the ship moved a lot.  All of us got seasick when we came back to the rooms.  I took a pill and we all went to sleep.  The next morning was much better!

Dec 22
We arrived Nassau, Bahamas around 12 pm.  Oh my goodness! I loved the color of the water.  It was so blue and beautiful.  We had lunch and were ready for our excursion.
The tour guide was really funny and knowledgeable about the city.  Even the kids loved the history of Nassau.  Extra credit was given to the tour guide!  He took us every where in Nassau.  We stopped at Atlantis hotel, historic place, shopped in the market and visited a beach.  We then walked around the port and went back to the cruise.  It was a great tour to explore Nassau!

We had dinner again at 5:30 pm.  It was supposed to be a formal dinning but we didn't prepare.  They still let us in and enjoyed dinner.

After dinner, my husband and Sean still wanted to eat more so they went up to 9th floor and got something else.  We then played shuffle board, ping pong (table tennis). Then Sean and dad went to the fitness while Luke and I walked around, listened to music, bought wifi and went back to staterooms.  Tonight was better as far as the sea sick because the ship left Nassau midnight and we already went to sleep :)  We had a great day!

Dec 23
We arrived early in Cococay around 7 am.  Our first excursion was at 8 am.  So we woke up early, had breakfast and were transported to the island.  I loved Cococay Island!  It was the private island for Royal Caribbean Cruise Line.  We followed our guide for Kayaking.  Luke and his dad went together in one boat.  Sean and I went together on another one.  I was so excited and nervous.  Sean was really good at kayaking.  He told me what to do.  In fact he was the one who did all the work for me.  Good job Sean!  So proud of you!  Luke and his dad was struggling on kayaking but they still had a good time.  On the way back, their boat flipped over but the water was shallow enough at that time so they could get back on the boat easily.  It was really fun.  I actually loved it.

When we got back, Sean, Luke and Sam went on to the next excursion, snorkeling while I was waiting on the beach.  I walked around and relaxed on the beach chair.  The weather was windy and wasn't hot at all.  At that time, the water was shallow enough, some people went in the water for a long walk.  After a while I went to another side of the beach to see how they were doing on their excursion.  Sean had a good time and saw a lot of fish.  Luke stayed close to the beach with his dad.  He didn't get to see fish but I was sure next time, it would be better for him!

After snorkeling, we had lunch.  The cruise line prepared lunch on the beach.   It was crowded because there were 2 RC cruises came to the island at the same time.

After lunch, the boys did "aquatic park", they had a lot of funs.  Then they went to do a 40 feet slide while Sam and I relaxed on the chair and took pictures.

About 4 pm, we walked back to the port and were transferred back to the cruise.  It was a fun day for all of us.  Loved the beach.  The water was so clear and the beach was white!

We went back to the staterooms, showered and got ready for the last night dinner on the cruise.  Right after dinner, the kids wanted to swim again so we went up to 9th floor and let them swim!

By 9 pm, we went down to the rooms and packed our clothes. Luke was sad because it was ending.  We had a great family time on the cruise.  I am sure if we have a chance we would do it again!

We arrived Port Canaveral at 7 am on Christmas Eve.  It was a very fun short trip!  Now we were ready for Universal Studios!  http://travelwithlamai.blogspot.com/2016/01/universal-studios-dec-24-25-2015.html
