Universal Studios Dec 24-25, 2015
After the Bahamas cruise trip, we drove from Cape Canaveral to Orlando less than 1 hour. This was the second time for the boys visiting this area but this time instead of Disney World, we were doing Universal Studios!
Dec 24
We arrived and parked the hotel around 9 am. The Universal Studios was across the street. It was about 15 mins walk. There were 2 parks, one was Universal Studios and another one was Island of Adventure. Today we were doing Universal Studios. After we got tickets and entered to the park, we started with something that we didn't have to wait for a long line :)
Here was what we did....
Shrek 4 D
- The animation was cute and fun. Shrek was helping Princess Fiona from Lord Farquaad as he kidnapped her. I heard a lot of kids or even adults laughed and screamed including me :)
Transformers: 3D
- The 3D battle ride of transformers was also fun. There were a lot of fighting scenes.
Terminator 2: 3D
- The show was a mix of live action and special effects 3-D film. Real people transitioning into the movie was entertaining.
Men in Black Alien Attack
- The ride was spinning and we were shooting aliens to protect the Earth. It was pretty fun. Sean got the highest score!
The Wizarding World of Harry Porter
- Harry Porter was a very fun ride! We walked through the bank's lobby before the ride. The setting was really cool. This was one of my favorite one.
Revenge of the Mummy
- To be honest, I didn't expect much about this ride but I loved it. It was a roller coaster that brought you to the darkness and fireballs. I screamed a lot!
Unfortunately, although we tried twice, we didn't get to do the Despicable Me Minion Mayhem because the line was too long!
We had dinner around the theme park (Universal City Walk). We went into an Italian restaurant but Luke didn't order the food. He was waiting for Panda Express :) After we were done, we went around the corner to order Luke Chinese foods! We walked back to the hotel around 8 pm. It was a fun day but we were tired and ready to go to bed!
Dec 25 - Merry Christmas!
The kids woke up with a present from us! Of course they liked it - a gift card from Game Stop :)
This morning we booked a shuttle bus at the hotel to ride to Island of Adventure. The bus stopped at several hotels picking up people. As soon as we arrived the Island of Adventure, we had breakfast at Cinnabon. Now once our tummies are full, we are ready for another fun day!

The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman
- Soaring in 3D ride with Spiderman animation was fun!
Pteranodon Flyers
- This ride was designed for kids. It flew over the play area inside Jurassic Park. So Sean and Luke did the ride while my husband and I were waiting outside. It was a good time for us to sit back and relax :)
Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey
- We got to soar above several iconic places with Harry Potter. I really liked this ride and of course I screamed too :)
Dragon Challenge
- This ride looked too scary because it climbed too high and twisted a lot. We were not brave enough. Only Sean did this one and he did say it was fun!
Flight of the Hippogriff
- This was a fun family friendly coaster. It was not too scary.
Popeye & Bluto's Bilge-Rat Bargers
- This was a wet ride and I wouldn't do it! Sean and Luke went in and had a lot of fun.
Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls
- This was another water ride that Sean and Luke loved so much. They went twice and were soaking wet.
I wish we had at least one more day because it was really crowded during this holiday season. We didn't get to do all of the rides but we did several good ones and still had a blast!
The next morning, Dec 26, we had to stop at an urgent care before we left Orlando. Yes Luke was sick after all the fun! He got strep throat and was prescribed with antibiotic. We drove all day and stopped to stay over night in Mississippi. Then we left Mississippi in morning and had to drive thru big storm and tornado warning in Texas. We arrived home safely around 6 pm.
We got to do a lot of things on this trip. It was such a long drive but I bet my kids would not forget this trip for a long time!!

This park was very cool. I really liked the theme park. We also had lunch in Harry Potter park. We all got to try Butter Beer. Sean and Luke loved it!

After the last water ride, we decided to head back to the hotel before getting too dark to walk.
We took a shower, rested a little bit and were ready for dinner. We found a Thai restaurant near the hotel so we had Thai dinner on Christmas day! It was great.I wish we had at least one more day because it was really crowded during this holiday season. We didn't get to do all of the rides but we did several good ones and still had a blast!
